Frequently Asked Questions

What does it do?

Filler in the tear trough fills the hollowing under the eyes to give a more restful appearance. It is perfect for patients that have the dark hollowing that is typically caused from volume loss in the face. This can appear as one of the first signs of aging. We also correct any hollowing in the outer rim of the eye, which helps wrinkles and gives a more blended, smooth appearance.

What are the benefits?

It reduces dark circles, smooths the transition from the under eye to the cheek, helps some of the lower lid wrinkles, helps the outer rim hollowing and wrinkles in the crow's feet, gives a more rested and youthful appearance, and it lasts for up to 18 months.

What is the down time with this procedure?

There are no restrictions after this procedure. It takes only minutes and there are in the office to perform the procedure, however we do numb the area which can take 20-30 minutes. It is typical to have swelling under the eyes that is noticeable for about 3-7 days. Then, you may still have some swelling that persists for about 3-4 weeks but this is typically mild. It helps if you ice your eyes the day of the procedure and intermittently after that. Bruising is typically minimal and can be covered with routine makeup if any occurs since Dr. Lawson uses a microcannula and not a needle to inject the filler.

The Tear Trough is the area under the eye that can cause a tired, unrested appearance.  It is one of the first place we start to age.  As we age, we lose volume in our face from loss of natural fat pads, muscle, and bone. Deepening of the tear trough, can be improved or resolved with Dermal Fillers.  In this area they lasts 12 to 18 months. Dr. Lawson is experienced in this procedure, and uses a unique technique. She uses a microcannula instead of a needle in the area. This technique is safer, causes less bruising and swelling, and is essentially painless.
